TOWNSHIP OF CHESTERFIELD ORDINANCE 2008 –10 AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND THE TOWNSHIP’S ADMINISTRATIVE CODE TO CREATE THE POSITION OF COURT LIAISON AND TO SET COMPENSATION FOR SAID POSITION WHEREAS, the Township Committee has recently abolished its Municipal Court and has entered into a shared Municipal Court with North Hanover Township and the Borough of Wrightstown; and WHEREAS, the Township believes it is in the best interest of the public to monitor its participation in the shared Municipal Court for a period of thirty (30) months; and WHEREAS, the Township Committee for the Township of Chesterfield believes it is appropriate to create the temporary position of Court Liaison for this purpose; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED AND ENACTED by the Township Committee of the Township of Chesterfield in the County of Burlington and State of New Jersey as follows: ARTICLE I. § 39-15. Court Liaison position; Duration of position. A.” Temporary Court Liaison.” There is hereby created the position of “Temporary Court Liaison” for the Township of Chesterfield, to assist the Township through the transition period, between the elimination of the Chesterfield Township Municipal Court and the implementation of the shared Court with the Township of North Hanover and the Borough of Wrightstown. The Temporary Court Liaison shall present the Township of Chesterfield with a monthly report of court activities, including, but not limited to, case load, monetary figures, information regarding the merger, such as problems or concerns, and other information that the Temporary Court Liaison believes the Township should be aware of in the shared municipal court. The Temporary Court Liaison position is not guaranteed to exist after two and one-half years. ARTICLE II. Compensation for Court Liaison Position. Ordinance 2008-7 is hereby amended to add the following salary for the position of Court Liaison:
Temporary Court Liaison $645.00 on a quarterly basis for Thirty (30) months ARTICLE III. REPEALER, SEVERABILITY AND EFFECTIVE DATE. A. Repealer. Any and all Ordinances inconsistent with the terms of this Ordinance are hereby repealed to the extent of any such inconsistencies. B. Severability. In the event that any clause, section, paragraph or sentence of this Ordinance is deemed to be invalid or unenforceable for any reason, then the Township Committee hereby declares its intent that the balance of the Ordinance not affected by said invalidity shall remain in full force and effect to the extent that it allows the Township to meet the goals of the Ordinance. C. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect upon adoption and publication in accordance with the law and shall be retroactive to May 1, 2008. CHESTERFIELD TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Township Committee of the Township of Chesterfield that the Ordinance to which this notice is attached was introduced on first reading at the meeting of the Township Committee held May 15, 2008. It will be further considered by the Township Committee at a meeting to be held at the Municipal Complex, 300 Bordentown-Chesterfield Road in Chesterfield Township on June 11, 2008 at 7:30 PM, or at any subsequent meeting to which consideration of the matter is adjourned.. The Ordinance may be reviewed and/or a copy obtained upon the payment of the appropriate fee at the Office of the Township Clerk during the hours of Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. At the time the Township Committee further considers the Ordinance, and prior to action being taken, the Township Committee will hold a public hearing during which all interested in the Ordinance will be afforded an opportunity to speak, or otherwise exercise the rights which they enjoy under the laws of the State of New Jersey.
