In accordance with the CTAA By-Laws, the CTAA will select coaches from a pool of available volunteers. All coaches and assistant coaches must sign and abide by the Coaches Responsibilities and Commitments document, must be Rutgers Certified by taking the Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y. Course and for Baseball only must take the CalRipken online course.
The Rutgers S.A.F.E.T.Y Course is a 3 hour program which is usually held prior to each sport season. The CTAA will incur the expense for this course. If you attend a local class given by the CTAA or NBIAA no money is needed. If you attend another class by another township, you will need to pay for the course and submit a receipt to the CTAA for reimbursement. This is a one time course. f you have taken the Rutgers Course and need a replacement card, you can contact Annette Duvall from Rutgers at 732-932-6537or aduvall@rci.rutgers.edu The cost of the replacement card is $5.00 The coach or assistant needing the card will need to incur this expense.
The Coaches Responsibilities and Commitments Certification page must be signed once every year (year starting Soccer season through Baseball season) unless the document is amended during that time and you are instructed otherwise.
The Cal Ripken online course is mandated by the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken League. This is a one time course. The cost for this course is $19.95 to be incurred by the coach/assistant coach. We require only Rookie and up to take this course. Wiffle-T and T-Ball coaches do not need to take this. However, if you are a coach for T-ball and an assistant for another team rookie on up, you need to take the course. You can take the course at http://www.baberuthcoaching.org/
