Press Release

On Thursday June 05, 2008, Cub Scout Pack 55 of Chesterfield Township, New Jersey held their final Pack Meeting of the 2007-2008 Scouting Year at the Chesterfield Township Elementary School. The Pack meetings, hosted by Cubmaster Bill Koetas, recognize an individual Scouts’ advancement in rank, along with other awards and recognitions for the pervious months.

The highlight of this final meeting was the crossing over of Webelos from Cub Scout Pack 55 to Boy Scout Troop 55. Greg Gill Den 1 and Bill Graessle Den 2 2nd year Webelos leaders presented James Gill, Billy Graessle, Wyatt Leong, Nick Myles, Michael Bastedo and Thomas van Veldhuisen for advancement. Scoutmaster Jack Ryder and members of Troop 55 Crosswicks, BSA where on hand to greet, receive them and present them with their Boy Scout neckerchiefs.

All six scouts also received the Arrow of Light Award. The Arrow of Light Award is the highest award in Cub Scouting. The Cub Scout must earn the Webelos badge, at least eight activity badges, including Citizen, Fitness and Readyman. The total must include one activity badge from each of the five activity groups. The scout must show a knowledge of the requirements to become a Boy Scout, visit Boy Scout Troop meetings and outdoor activities, conference with the Scoutmaster and participate in a Webelos overnight campout or day hike. Finally, the Cub Scout must complete the Honesty Character Connection activity.

Having met all these requirements, all the Leadership of Pack 55 is proud to extend best wishes to these Scouts as they continue on their “Trail to Eagle”.

Pack 55 and Troop 55 meet at various places and times throughout the year in the Crosswicks and Chesterfield area.  They provide a program that helps develop boys into honorable men through character development, citizenship training, mental and physical fitness.  The mission of the Boy Scouts is to prepare young men to make ethical choices over lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.
