Information about Pack 55
HISTORY
Cub Scout Pack 55 of Chesterfield Township
is a unit within the Burlington County Council (BCC) of the Boy Scouts of
America (BSA). The Pack’s Charter was granted to the Crosswicks Community
Association on December 1, 1965. The Crosswicks Community Association is
principally located on Main Street in Crosswicks.
The Pack has operated continuously since
1965 providing the youth of Chesterfield Township with opportunities for
outdoor activities, projects, sports, academics and more in a fun and
exciting program that helps families and our community teach basic core
American values such as honesty, tolerance, work ethic, good citizenship,
leadership and respect.
ORGANIZATION
At any given time there are approximately
50-60 boys from grades 1 through 5 registered in the Pack. A Cubmaster leads
the Pack. The present Cubmaster is Bill Koetas. A Pack Committee also leads
the unit. The present Chairman of Pack 55 is Rex A. van Veldhuisen
The Pack is broken down into “Dens”
according to Cub Scout ranks. The ranks are:
1st Graders – Tiger Scout
2nd Graders – Wolf Scout
3rd Graders – Bear Scout
4th Graders – WEBELOS (1st
Year)
5th Graders – WEBELOS (2nd

Each den will have approximately 5 – 10
scouts assigned to it. A Den leader who is a responsible adult individual
from the community principally leads the scouts. The Den Leaders coordinate
and manage the dens actions and activities.
The current Den leaders for the 2006-2007
Season are:
·
Tiger Scouts – Denise Ratti (Den 8)
·
Wolf Scouts – Diane Loitfellner (Den 5), Rich Albano (Den 7)
·
Bear Scouts – Tim Wolverton (Den 6), Dale Bertrand (Den 4)
·
WEBELOS 1 - Greg Gill (Den 1), Bill Graessle (Den 2)
·
WEBELOS 2 – Tom Harris ( Den 3)
Dens generally meet two times a month. The
Den meetings are usually held at the Chesterfield Township Elementary
School, The Crosswicks Firehouse or The Crosswicks Community
House.
Several times during the year, Dens
participate in Pack meetings held at the Chesterfield Elementary School.
Pack meetings provide an opportunity for the sharing of information on pack
activities, awarding deserving scouts with achievement badges, learning from
“show and tells” or guest speakers and having fun through skits and games.
Throughout the year various activities are
held that involve the entire Pack. Activities planned for 2006-2007 include
two (2) camping trips to Pinetree, hockey & baseball games, community
cleanup day, decorating the graves of Veterans, hikes, a movie night and the
ever popular Pinewood Derby Races just to name a few.
Refer to the Pack 55 2006-2007 Program
Schedule for details on when these and other events will take place.
Ideas for other activities either for Dens
or the Pack are always welcome. Please contact Rex van Veldhuisen to
discuss.
